the joys of the slow cooker

I often forget this from one time to the next of using my slow cooker, but my favorite part is walking into the house and getting that aroma of the meal as it's cooking. I've got a beef vegetable stew going for supper tonight, and when I went home for lunch it already smelled really good.

Even if I am cheating and using Marie Calander's fixings instead of preparing the broth, veggies, and meat myself. It still makes me feel like I'm going a step above the standard frozen dinner fare. Plus I'm getting some vegetables in my diet for a change.

Mmmmm. Stew.

that's why i love the slow cooker. it reminds me of being little, and walking into the house and having dinner all ready. except, it takes me a half hour before before leaving for work to get the crockpot up and running. and i'm the one cooking instead of my mom, but i feel pampered just the same.
