possibly useful information

I've been following some of the discussion/debates about use, or lack of use, of warnings in fics. I'm not particularly intending to get into that debate. (Though I do think that if one is going err, it should be on the side warning rather than not.) What I did want to post is the useful bit of information that I came across. How to do invisible text on LJ:

< span style="background-color:#FFEECC; color:#FFEECC">THIS IS A WARNING will look like:

THIS IS A WARNING

Or, a version that's apparently bit more mac friendly:

< span style="background-color:#666; color:#666">THIS IS A WARNING will look like:

THIS IS A WARNING

(I think the first one actually reads a little better on my macbook pro.)


If you use the code, you'll need to take out the space after the first "<" sign. This may be handy for people who want to post warnings or spoilers about their fic, but give people the option of whether they want to see them or not. Or for using spoiler text in any other context.

I'm mainly posting this so I can add to my own memories.
