Off and on for the past couple of weeks I've had "Mr Sandman" going through my head. Why? And I only really know one or two lines from the song, so it's pretty much the same bit that repeats over and over in my head. It seems to pop into my head a lot when I'm out walking the dog.
Yeah, I don't know either.
Mr Sandman bring me a dreeeeeem
*sigh*

Now I want to know why that part of my brain isn't remembering something useful, instead?

Because brains have minds of their own. ;)

Although today we're watching "Pan's Labyrinth" again so that music will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Make him the cutest that I've ever seen (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Give him two lips like roses and clover (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung.….)
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream.
(scat “bung, bung, bung, bung)
Mr. Sandman (male voice: “Yesss?) bring us a dream
Give him a pair of eyes with a “come-hither” gleam
Give him a lonely heart like Pagliacci
And lots of wavy hair like Liberace
Mr Sandman, someone to hold (someone to hold)
Would be so peachy before we're too old
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr Sandman, bring us, please, please, please
Mr Sandman, bring us a dream.
There, now you know all the words! :-D
Uh, thanks?
Although, I've gotta say, I think it might be admirable that a song managed to work both Pagliacci and Liberace into the lyrics!
