For ages, I've been mystified various things involving Facebook nuts and bolts. Happily, I've finally come across the article Ten settings every Facebook user should know. It was very helpful to someone like me who needs to be led around for most things...

Thank you! I'll have a look at that after work, because I have No Idea!

I know! It doesn't seem like a very intuitive system to me. Or maybe I'm just stuck in my LJ ways.

I could have used this a few weeks when trying to figure out how to block people from seeing photos I was tagged in. I did figure out how to do it but lordy that took forever.

Yeah, I don't think they make it very easy figure stuff out over there.

I generally try not to post things that it doesn't matter who sees it--which I guess would be a good policy for the 'net in general--but it shouldn't be that hard to try to figure out how to put limitations.

Yeah, I do love Facebook as I'm in touch with so many people from my past. But my heart and soul isn't there.

The photos that made me cringe were ones from high school. So bad, so scary but not embarrassing. Well they were embarrassing but not a work ending sort of thing...

Interesting.

I have my gender set to "gender" meaning none and my age lists me as born in 1940-something. It helps shoo away some of the more annoying ads.

Facebook is not good as a blog, but it's a great way to make contact with people from your past. My sister-in-law is using it to post pictures and short updates about her newborn twins, so she doesn't have to send a bunch of emails etc, which would be harder in an LJ format. I'm a little too long winded for Facebook, but people tend to update it more.

Yeah, I like the more discursive nature of LJ a lot more.

But the quick update of FB can be nice. Plus Scramble and Scrabble. :)
