One Prompt, Many Stories is on the grid

So it begins.

A few years ago, I decided that I would stay away from fandom activities. One thing led to another and I started writing fics. More things led to more things, which has led to me creating a community for Stargate SG-1* stories. one_prompt (One Prompt, Many Stories) is a community wherein all writers will write to the same prompt. A new prompt will be issued every quarter.

Prompts are now open.

The first prompt will be assigned on July 1.

Guidelines and links to instructions and general information are on the profile page.

Gen, het, and slash are all fair game. Time will tell, but I think the set up that I've got planned will allow those who are only interested in reading a specific genre of story to find them easily.

I got a lot of really great feedback from my initial "gauging interest" poll. I've tried to incorporate and balance the good ideas offered there with my own preferences and interests. Hopefully what results is something that will be enjoyable for a broad range of people.

Also, a thank you to traycer_ who has also lost her mind agreed to serve as a co-moderator.

As I've commented elsewhere, this is likely to be either great fun, a great disaster, or possibly a great, fun disaster. Personally, I'm hoping for great fun.

By any chance have you seen the guests that are lined up for Dragon*con this year? Major Stargate going on. Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Joe Flanigan, Lexa Doig, Michael Shanks...Gary Jones and a couple others I think.

Last time Lexa came she and I talked for about 20 mins or so about motherhood and stuff. She was very friendly. We might have talked longer but her husband stole her away. Can't blame her for going. lol

Lexa's got a twitter account where she's pretty prolific and witty. I watch an rss feed of it on dreamwidth...I swear she's the only reason I've ever been tempted to join twitter.

Seriously, though, my fandom reach isn't huge and I've got everything in place (mostly), so I imagine it will take awhile for word to spread.

I'm getting some interest from my pimping. I think people are curious checking it out. Once the prompts are visible and stuff, it'll probably grow exponentially. *crosses fingers*
