Apr. 25th, 2005 03:20 pm1. I happened to watch some of Austin City Limits on Saturday and caught Tracy Chapman performing. I was pretty much entranced by her. I think I'm going to have to finally get around to getting one (or more) of her cds.
2. NOLA is fast approaching. In preparation, I've been eating and eating. I think this might not be the wisest course of action so I'm thinking I need to restablish control over my habits.
2a. In response to my vow to take control of things I baked cookies on Saturday. I ate lots and lots of cookies.
2b. I think I may need to revisit the taking control strategy.
3. I think I may have gotten the upper hand over the wasps that were invading my front porch. At least temporarily. I haven't seen the beginnings of a new nest in several days, and the number of wasps flying around is greatly reduced. It's a sign of really mushy a person I am that I felt kinda bad the first time a sprayed their nest and knocked it down. I got over it, though, when they came back to rebuild and I had to do it all over again.
4. The marigold seeds that I planted in one of my windowboxes have sprouted and appear to be progressing nicely. I'm cautiously optimistic that I might have real flowers eventually. The geranium seeds that I planted in another box are not being quite so cooperative. I'd been told by someone after planting the seeds that geraniums tend to be hard to grow. Given my not-particularly-green thumb tendencies, I'm not particularly optimistic about that box. On Saturday, I also planted some petunia seeds in the one remaining window box. Given that I went explicitly against the instructions on the package to plant them indoors 8 weeks prior to setting them out in spring, I'm feeling especially pessimistic about them, but what the hey--maybe nature will find a way. The package did say that petunias are very hardy flowers.
