In the event that anyone (besides me) is interested in an all-in-one-place listing for my fics and vids, here it is. Stories are written from a Gen perspective. None of them are beyond a PG in rating.

When I first heard the song "We Weren't Born to Follow," I thought it seemed tailor made for a vid. So I started on one. Then Life and a General Malaise took over and it lay half-finished for several months. This weekend I made a push and decided to finish it up. And here are the results. As an aside, once again I hate coming up with titles for my own stuff. I'd first intended this to be a series spanning vid, but it seemed to want to be a 1-8 the enemy is the goa'uld kind of thing.

Above imbed is downloadable as an mp4. Also downloadable as an avi file (the files are pretty big)

Or viewable on youtube

So, there's my Jack/Sara fic that's due soon. And a Beast of Burden recap that's due soon. Therefore, it's a good time to slap together a vid instead. (Though I have made some progress on the rather odd fic that I'm planning.)

I love Jack. And Zero Hour is an episode that I like a lot. Which has led to the following:

Also downloadable as an AVI file or as an mp4 (I created the files on my mac, but the mp4, at least, should work on PC with Quicktime.)

What do you know? I've finished a vid that's not SG-1 related. In fact, it's for my first fandom love, Buffy.

Downloadable as an AVI or as an mp4. As so often seems to be the case with my stuff, the files are quite large.

I ran out of song before I ran out of clips that I wanted to use, but overall, I pretty much like this one. I stuck a couple of clips into the middle that are basically there for my own amused self-indulgence. As Mr. Ricky Nelson so eloquently sang: "you've got to please yourself."

sg_betty: It is for a different show, so I hope you don't mind too much that I've used the same song that I requested you use for a vid.

A new SG-1 vid:

YouTube link
Downloadable as an AVI file (pretty huge) or as an mp4 file (less huge).

This is a vid for Abyss, so it's not exactly filled with cheerful pep. But if nothing else the people are pretty to look at. :) Overall I'm relatively happy with the way it came out in the end, though the pacing may not be to everyone's taste.

Yes. Again with the vidding:

Sha're's Elegy (This is the YouTube link. High Quality viewing may give better results.)

Sha're's Elegy (embedded) )

Downloadable here. AVI file. (Though again the file wound up being rather larger than I expected.) Also as an mp4 which will run in Quicktime here

Hey! A vid for something other than SG-1. This one's for Deep Space Nine. Perhaps more than a trifle obvious, but I enjoy it. Downloadable here.

I have a new vid: Teal'c's Family. (It's also gone under the title "A Family of Jaffa) It's a story of Teal'c and his journey with Ry'ac. It is available for download, but:

a) The file is large. And by large, I mean huuuuuuuuuge. [Update: I've now uploaded a considerably smaller file.]
ii) I'm not sure whether the quicktime file is mac specific or if it will play on PCs as well.

As you can see, my vidding career is still a work in progress.

It would be on YouTube too, but it appears the record label for this song is more proactive than others in their infringement patrol.

I've combined two of my loves, Stargate and Lord of the Rings (via soundtrack) for The Fellowship of SG-1".

I would say that the pacing on this one can charitably described as leisurely, but I like it. So it makes me happy at least. I'm a little disappointed because it looks much darker on my work computer than it did when I checked it on my home comp. Drat it all. Watching it on the high quality option may give better results.

deja vu

I posted a link to my newest vid a few days ago. While I'm still basically happy with the vid, I was not happy with the resolution as it appeared online. I think I've finally come up with a slightly cleaner iteration and I've reposted it. If anyone is interested, here it is: Dream on.

I've committed vid again: Dream On.

It may not be to anyone's taste but mine, but overall I'm happy with it. Though I do think that my "technique" for disguising that I was working with a live recording of the music worked better at the beginning than at the end.

Also, I don't think I realized until searching for and selecting clips how many death beds Sam sat vigil for. Quite a few, as it happens.

It's a sickness. Or an addiction. Or maybe a sick addiction.

I was starting a new story a few days ago and promptly got stuck a few paragraphs in. While the words refused to come, I was able to map out another sg-1 fanvid that I wanted to do. Apparently once you start down that path, forever will it consume you.

Here's a link to I'm Going to Go Back There Someday I would have preferred it if I had been able to find a version of Gonzo singing it, but since my 70 seconds of searching didn't turn it up, I went with this one. So, you know, there you have it.

Some years ago, I ventured onto the internet and into a Buffy community. It changed my life. I did things and made friends that I never would have without that Buffy-centered place.

I also swore that I would never be more than fandom-adjacent. It's not that I have any regrets about my first fandom involvement--it was overwhelmingly positive. But I also discovered that fandom can slowly kill yourmy joy in a show if care isn't taken.

So I stayed in my living room and watched tv and enjoyed it privately. But then I sort ventured into the SG-1 world, kind of by accident. And started interacting with some really cool people. Then I threw out a fanfic idea, just for people "who do that sort of thing." Then I wound up taking that idea and running with it. Then I started writing more fics.

And then I thought "hey, that vidding thing really does look fun. I wonder if I could do that?" And, well, It's Just That Kind of Day.

It's far from perfect and part of it came out darker on the upload than it is in the original. But for a first try, I don't think it's too awful.

I have a rule that I try not to have ideas--because people just expect you to do something about it when you have ideas. I should probably just stop making general resolutions too. They don't seem to really amount to much in the long run.
