The good part about going to the Chinese buffet by myself is that I can indulge in my unhealthy love of crab rangoon without facing any judgmental eyes from tablemates.

Of course, it also follows that the bad part about going to the Chinese buffet by myself is that I can indulge in my unhealthy love of crab rangoon without facing any judgmental eyes from tablemates.

I'm not sure if lunch today was a win/win or a lose/lose scenario.

oh man... crab rangoon is my biggest chinese food weakness. I have restaurants that I will order from specifically for their crab rangoon.

What is this crab rangoon of which you speak?

It's basically a deep fried dumpling filled with cream cheese, crab, and, I think onion. A check of wikipedia confirms my suspicion that it's probably more American than Chinese in origin. I have no resistance to them.

That sounds fairly delicious. I don't think restaurants have those here. We do have ginger beef, a local adaptation of a kind of beef dish (a deep fried slivered beef with chili peppers and a sweet ginger sauce)that's pretty yummy and may not have spread outside western Canada.

I find that it's often hard to go wrong with any food that involves cream cheese. ;)
