Creeping steadily into the mainstream

Time Magazine has a really interesting story about fanfic, The Boy Who Lived Forever. What's so refreshing about to me is that it's of a "let's gawk at the weird fan-type people out there" variety. It's a straightforward, thoughtful look at fanfic, who does it, why, and includes some interesting historical context as well.

Mr. Grossman actually had a community journal here at lj and elicited comments. (He asked five questions thinking he'd be chatting to a few people and since this is fandom, got inundated with hundreds of comments). I think it was a very well done look at fanfic.
