On this holiday day, I had a couple of things I could get done:

1. My car battery is a little over five years old and starting express reluctance about starting on these cold mornings. I could get the battery replaced.

2. I started reading the Belgariad series about a week ago by buying book one and giving it a try. I could get other books in the series.

I think it's clear which was the correct decision. (leaving aside the possibility of doing both things)

Happily, Borders had all four remaining books in stock. Yippee! More fun reading lies ahead. :)

You realize that after those five Belgariad books, there's also the five Malloread books, and the stand-alone Belgarian and Polgara books, right? :-D

Yup! Technically, Belgarath the Sorcerer (I mistyped, it's not Belgarian) and Polgara the Sorceress predate the Belgariad series in the timeline, but he wrote them last, and really, if you'd read those first, you'd've noticed some inconsistencies, so it's better to read them in the order they were written. i.e. Yes, you're reading them in the right order! :-D

And this Polgara doesn't have pointy things shooting out of her arms, though she is far more dangerous.

I would recommend stopping with these and not reading his other series, the Sparhawk one. I didn't find it worth the effort.

But The Belgariad and The Mallorean are a real hoot to read!
