It starts to snow and a little hopeful voice that I've never outgrown starts up in the back of my mind. Maybe it'll snow and snow and snow and there won't be work tomorrow. This rarely happens because:
1. We almost never get the predicted snowfall in our area anymore. (In recent years, we usually just wind up with a bunch of ice.)
and
2. I can count on one hand the number of times I can remember the university has closing because of weather.
It snowed all night. I called the inclement weather line more out of idle curiosity than any real expectation. What to my wondering ears do I hear, but "classes canceled, emergency personnel only should report for work." Yippee! Free day! I'm spending part of it doing laundry that I should have done last weekend, but, still, boring household task aside, there's nothing like the unexpected gift of a snow day.
