I can't remember whether I've posed this topic before or not, but if so, here's a reprise.

Do any of you all who are readers have memories of the first time something you read in a book made you wonder about or make a connection with something in real life? I'm not necessarily talking about anything earth shaking, just something that made you go "hmmm." (Or the "hmmm" equivilent for a child.)

There are probably lots of little ones that I don't remember, but the first one that I positively do remember is from 101 Dalmations. (I am talking about the book, not the movie. I didn't see the movie--which I do like--until I was much, much older.) It's the Twilight Bark. I remember after reading about it in that book, I would sometimes lie in bed at night and hear dogs barking and wonder what news was being passed along the chain. To this day, I get a fond feeling when I think of that. And I still sometimes privately refer to the Twilight Bark when I hear dogs barking in the evening.
