Sep. 16th, 2008 02:06 pmHeh. I guess there are certain things that you can count on in fandoms. Like the certainty that as new shows come, develop their, uh, devoted, fanbases, then go; a whole new set of naive people get to learn hard life lessons.
From fandom_wank, it's Moonlight's turn.
(I do tend to agree with the general sentiments of one commenter that if a single fan has $10,000.00 to donate to a fan campaign, it's a little hard to feel too sorry when things take the turn that you might expect. Or, possibly I'm just bitter that I don't have $10,000.00 to devote to any cause, frivolous or otherwise.)

Date: 2008-09-16 09:06 pm (UTC)Man, it's hard to keep the crazy vampire fandoms straight. That's just too naive.

Date: 2008-09-16 09:40 pm (UTC)The speed at which Twilight became the default wank is quite impressive. And it's a lot of fun because I have absolutely no investment or interest in Twilight so I can just be entertained by the fallout(s).

As a social experiment, of course.

Date: 2008-09-24 05:10 pm (UTC)It's been interesting reading through developments, though. It has every appearance of someone who got taken when she was in a vulnerable state.
Oh, and questions have started to become more vocal about whether the "taker" has been skimming money from other fan donations for various things. It's quite fascinating.

Date: 2008-10-03 05:12 pm (UTC)They've discovered she apparently swindled (or at least there's questions) regarding convention money...
And the fact that she runs an internet homeschool company and swindled some moms with that! (It's wild to see the homeschool moms and cancelled vampire show fans bond).
The chick has over two dozen websites (and they're still counting--she was dumb enough to keep her "real" name, same email, and/or same mailboxes etc. addy) advertising services as diverse as pagan minister, virtual life service facilitator (wtf?), internet dominatrix, and...notary public.
Link to latest fandom wank entry. I recommend reading the timeline.
