Oct. 26th, 2008 09:37 pmI've been watching a lot of DiscoveryHealth lately, with all the Mystery Diagnosis, and Mystery ER, and Doctor G shows. I'm left with two observations:
1. A stunning number of mysterious illnesses that are first diagnosed as one thing turn out to be Lymes Disease. By now, I'm inclined to think that no matter how firm a diagnosis seems, a test for Lymes is in order. And since the test itself is only about 50% accurate, more than one should be taken.
2. I really like Dr. G. She's a medical examiner and each episode follows cases where she has to determine causes of death. I think she's really engaging and the shows are usually interesting. And it's kind of a nice break from straight crime investigation (much as I love Forensic Files), many of the deaths involve natural causes. The only downside is that by the end of each episode, I start feeling a little paranoid about suddenly dropping dead.
