Last night may have been one of the most miserable dog-walking experiences of my life. We had some snow during the day. Not a lot, but enough to leave a dusting on the ground. But there was also enough sleet and general slush to make for iciness on the sidewalks. The kind of iciness that's not all that easy to see. Especially when it's dark. So it's around 20-25 degrees or so. I'm walking next to the sidewalk where I can (because the footing's more secure) or shuffling along carefully on the sidewalk. Meanwhile Tom is all *happyhappy joyjoy bouncybouncy* because he's got that stylish fur coat and it's his kind of weather. I just don't want all his jumping around to pull me down, because falling just isn't as much fun as it used to be. Did I mention the 20-30 mph wind from the North? Yeah, that was nice too. It's a good thing he's so cute.

Although I did cheer up a lot when I remembered a radio commercial I heard earlier in the day. I wish I could remember the name of the brand advertised, because it may be one of the best commercials I've ever heard. It was for hand lotion and targeted at men. A "hand" was complaining that the outdoor worker takes esquisite care of his tools, carefully cleaning paint rollers, making sure to clean dirt and mud from other implements, etc. But that he just ignored his poor dry, red, chapped hands. He goes on to talk about the merits of this antiseptic lotion and concludes with "get [brand whatever] lotion, or one of your hands goes under a hammer!" I may have laughed out loud.
