April showers bring May flowers...
Apr. 24th, 2008 10:57 am...they also lead me to sometimes say:
1. "You know, I could have gotten a cat. Then I wouldn't be walking my dog in the rain." At least yesterday evening, Tom shook out his coat before we went inside. :)
2. Speaking of May flowers, I've loads of irises that are set on and likely to bloom within a few days. I really hope we don't have any sudden freezes.
3. My peony shoots have, well, shot up, seemingly overnight. The plant is looking very big and healthy. Last year I only got two blooms from it, I hope I get more this year.
4. My two rosebush thingies (I'm not sure if they're officially bushes or some other genre) have new growth all over. Sadly, I'm thinking of removing them and replacing them with a more manageable roseshrub. The rose plants that I have are lovely, but they're kind of hard to garden around, what with the thorns having a tendency to let me know that they're there when I try to do work in the garden. I feel a little guilty about removing healthy plants, but I think it will make for a better garden scheme. This "plan" means that it will probably happen sometime in the next, say, two years or so. Procrastination is me.
