attempting that posting thing again
Jan. 5th, 2014 06:36 pm1. One of the nice things about the puppy reaching the ripe old age of six is that even though in a lot of ways he's still a puppy at heart, he's settled enough to agree with me that when it's cold, cold, cold limiting the walk to just one block is just dandy. And we can get home and he's not climbing the walls because we only took a one block walk. He's fine with curling up on the sofa next to me. yay
2. Anyone who's still doing the sg1 (gen) fic writing thing, here's a fun opportunity for you: On-world Alphabet Soup Check it out. These are always fun.
3. Christmas/holiday season was relaxing and pleasant. It was different, of course, since Dad's no longer here, but it was nice. For the last few years Mom and Dad--now only Mom--have given me a nice little check, among other things, for Christmas. I try not to count on that check, because of course they don't have to do that, but I really hoping that there would be a check this year. And there was. A substantial one. I'm not gonna lie. It was a huge relief to see it. It allows me to pay off a good portion of debt that I've acquired through an unfortunate combination of necessity and unrealistic decisions. It doesn't cover all of it, but it makes what remains much less daunting. *whew*
4. I took the week between Christmas and New Year's off for my annual Week of Sloth. This is the week that I specifically set aside for sleeping late, taking naps, eating food that's bad for me, and watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If it weren't for the whole having to take the dog out for walks, I'd also spend most of it in my pajamas. In other words, this is what I envision for my retirement years.
