I'm not saying that this is going to lead to anything, I'm just wondering out loud.

Has there ever been any sort of ficathon, wherein there is a single prompt that everyone uses? I guess the "Five Things" things that I've seen is at the least similar to what I'm thinking of. What would it be like to have a single prompt--I don't think it could be something too specific--and ten or fifteen or however many stories built around it? What kind of variety of stories could come out a single prompt?

It seems like I've heard of something like this, but I can't remember what fandom it was in, or if it was an actual ficathon where people signed up or just a weekly challenge type deal.

I considered doing something like this for jacksamfriends way way way back when, so I like the idea, but outside of the five things I've not heard about it, at least not in Stargate fandom.

OK, I was about to say that Stephen King had done something like this, but it turns out it wasn't one single idea. He and each member of his family wrote short stories based on pictures in a book he was sent that had titles and/or captions, but no stories. His story ended up in Nightmares and Dreamscapes and he included the picture that the story came from. A written version of this idea would be what would basically be the vague description of a single moment (sort of like a screen cap) and then include the order to put this in a fic, anywhere in it. Be it the beginning, end, or just a passing scene within it. That allows a lot of opportunities to use it. But is has to be something vague like, "(Charater name A) points a weapon at (character name b)". Leave it to everyone to figure out the how and why.
