I pretty much take the same dog walking route every day. There's a limited number (two) of options as far as which direction I can go. Every once in awhile, I mix it up and take a northern route. And then I put that option aside for a few months. The problem with taking a route that goes north is that it involves crossing a bridge that spans an interstate. It's got a nice, high chain-link fence along the side, but it still feels a bit exposed for my taste. Last night I decided to try that route to see how it felt. Yeah. It still gives me the willies. Don't think I'll be doing that again soon.

In an unrelated query: I know that if an LJ post is given a date of sometime in the future, it will stay anchored at the top of a journal. If I go the opposite route, giving it a date that has passed, does that it won't show up on anybody's flist feed?

Any time you backdate something - whether it's a future date or a past one - it doesn't show up on flists. I discovered this by accident :) but it is quite useful if you're posting a long fic and, say, want only the first of two or three posts to show up on flists. It doesn't matter if it's backdated five months or five weeks or five minutes.

It'll still show up if someone browses your journal, of course. And you can't backdate in comms.

Yay!

Oh. That's not the answer I wanted to my second (unasked) question.

I was going to have a couple of specific info-type posts, backdate them, then link to them on the main page. Oh well. Will have to adapt then.
