You'll stand a much better chance (slim though that chance is) of sounding smart if you could get that right.

At the risk of undercutting my own snark, I had a little panic attack after I posted as to whether I'd gotten it wrong. I looked it up in the dictionary to confirm that I wouldn't need to come slinking back to correct myself.

I was just going to say that he may be emulating our esteemed president or currying favor with the aforesaid. Perhaps he is part of a conspiracy to convince people to pronounce it that way or make it acceptable to pronounce it that way so GWB won't be wrong? at least about that?.

I heard that on NPR today and thought, "Did he just say nuk-you-ler?" *boggle* Earlier this week on NPR I heard a linguist say that he was pretty sure that Bushie says nuk-you-ler on purpose because Bush Sr says it correctly and Bushie had to have grown up hearing the word pronounced correctly.
