A writer at Baseball Prospectus wrote a debut article on the heretofore unaddressed topic of RPS writing for baseball. It's a fun little piece and the comments are quite entertaining. (I sent a tweet to her saying that it's always fun to watch people learn about fanfic and RPS for the first time.)
A couple of favorites from the comments:
-One person, responding to the "outrage" at a piece that strays from the nuts and bolts of stats and performance analysis wondered why the piece about which game Ferris Buhler attended didn't provoke that reaction.
-Another commenter noted that he could really get into baseball fanfiction if it was about the Cubs making one brilliant move after another. To which another commenter replied that that seemed more unrealistic than some of the situations described in the article. And a second person responded with can only be described as a flash fic about the Cubs making a series of decisions that lead them to the World Series title.
