poor puppy
Aug. 9th, 2005 01:34 pmI went home for lunch to a rather unusual scene. A music stand that I keep tucked away along a wall had fallen over and the music from the stand was spread around. Semi-lying down in front of the overturned stand was Sheba, with something in front of her that I couldn't make out. Once I got closer I realized what had happened.
There's a little section along one of my living room walls that Sheba where Sheba likes to sleep. It's space of 18 inches or so between the end of the sofa and a stand that holds cds and video tapes. Within that free space is a heating/cooling register. Sheba likes to lie on top of it sometimes. When she did that this morning, the tags on her collar worked their way between one of the slits in the register cover. She couldn't distengagle the tags from the register, so she wound up dragging the whole thing with her when she got up. Clearly, she moved a few feet and then decided it was ridiculous to try to move around any more.
It was a very bewildered, and I think a little scared, doggie that I came home to. I'm glad I always stop by the house over the lunch hour.

Date: 2005-08-09 06:56 pm (UTC)but really? the mental image I have? is pretty funny!! this has an almost cartoonesque feel.
And yes, I get that she was traumatized but I'm glad she is ok and I am always amazed at the situations animals get into!!

Date: 2005-08-09 07:16 pm (UTC)I told you about Coco getting her foot caught in the pot of a potted plant and dragging it all over the living room trying to get it off, didn't I? Plant guts and potting soil everywhere.

Date: 2005-08-10 01:19 am (UTC)Many years ago a friend stayed with us when my mom was ill, and her puppy, Rimble, was on a line in the back yard (a 30' clothesline, with a long lead from the clothesline to the puppy).
He'd been learning to jump through a hulahoop on command, and we left one too close to him one day. We got home to a Rimble with a large hulahoop wing sprouting from his back, because he'd managed to jump through it about 3 times in a row and then got stuck.
Dogs are goobers, but cute!
