Thanks very much, Suzanne! I turned 40 today, and have been pondering such thoughts as: When I was born Lyndon Johnson was the president, you could buy a tankful of gas with your pocket change, and NASA was still working on the technical problems involved in getting astronauts back from the moon.

I had a funny moment the Saturday after Thanksgiving while visiting Weston, Missouri with my wife and family... I was in a clothing store run by a former schoolmate of mine, and was chatting with her when a teenage girl who looked just like her younger sister (minus the Farrah hair) came in, and I realized this was the sister's daughter. It's not as if I felt suddenly old, but it was startling.

Oh, and there was a microburst and a relatively harmless tornado at roughly the same time. It was a memorable shopping trip.

It's a strange feeling to realize the your contemporaries have children that are approaching adolescence. It doesn't feel like we should be old enough for that.

Yeah. It's happening in my own family too, my oldest neice is now five feet tall and can hold her own at Scrabble.
