I swear Ace Hardware has a commercial about that very subject. Woman enters the store covered in dirt and all disheveled and the clerk takes one look at her and says "Squirrels?"

I thought they were cuter 'til we moved to this house, three years ago. It was a big acorn season that autumn, and they were swarming all over the yard. After that, I couldn't not see Rats-With-Different-Tails.

give them their own planter and keep it filled with sunflower seeds/peanuts.

I went out to check on all my new little plants and discovered that the squirrels had planted their own little gardens in the loose dirt. lol
