It's never occurred to me to wonder about this before, but last night the question popped into my mind. We (and by we I mostly mean me) talk about the night that Daylight Savings Time ends as the night of an extra hour of sleep. What happens to/for people who work night shifts? Do they get an extra hour of pay since 2:00 am rolls around twice for them?

Yes. I used to work the 8pm-3am security shift in college, and on that night, we worked 8 hours instead of 7, until the clock officially hit 3am. It sucked to be the one to pull that night.

yes. when mama arlene worked graveyard shift she liked the long night cuz it was extra overtime money, and she worked in the ER so time always went pretty fast. but in spring if you work the time change night you lose an hour. I *think* they did it at 2 a.m., the clock would just jump back to 1 a.m.

i bet that made some reports confusing!!! triaged 1:50 a.m., admitted 1:10 a.m.!
