Huh. Working on this fanfic (that I was never going to do and then somehow wound up doing) has been interesting. From my posting lives, I was already aware that I have a number of tics that show up in my writing. But I hadn't realized until I started working on story-like writing how embedded some of those tics are. It's been an interesting challenge to smooth some of those things out. A good challenge, because I'm flexing some mental muscles that I haven't used much lately. It's been kinda fun.
