meme time-seven things
Sep. 4th, 2007 10:36 amI've been tagged by
aurora_novarum and who am I to resist?
1. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
2. Tag seven people to do the same.
3. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag whoever wants to do it.
1. I can read books/watch movies/watch television shows that I like over and over again. (I’m a fixater.) I can probably recite most of the lines of The Princess Bride along with the characters. I've probably read To Kill a Mockingbird, A Wrinkle in Time and many other books dozens of times.
2. I even reread mystery novels that I like. Besides, if enough time passes between readings, I forget who dunnit anyway. I don’t generally read them because I’m a smarty pants who can figure the mystery out. I just tend to like the stories themselves. So if the characters and the story appeal to me, I’ll read them again. And again.
3. I’m a relatively picky eater. There are foods that I never tried because I just assumed that I wouldn’t like it. One of those foods is guacamole. Then one day I finally gave it a test and discovered that I really like it. A lot.
4. One food that I will never, ever, no never like is coconut. I find nothing redeeming about it. The taste, texture, and smell are all unpleasant to me.
5. Keeping with the foodish theme, for a long time I thought I didn’t like iced tea. I tried it with sugar added and didn’t care for it. One day I tried it without sugar and found it much more to my taste.
6. I have phone fear. I don’t know why. I don’t have any memories of anyone hearing my voice on the other end of the phone, screaming, and hanging up. But still the phone fear persists. I have to psych myself up to make most phone calls. The simplest appointments often get put off because they often involve picking up the phone and calling to make arrangements. I think it might have to do with my nagging feelings that phone calls can be real intrusions, the suspicion that whoever I’m calling is in the middle of something much more interesting when I call, and the inability to pick up/see nonverbal cues when speaking on the phone.
7. I’m randomly fussy about things. My house is not very neat and tidy—though I do wish it were neater and tidier. But there are things that have to be “just so” for me. One of those things is money. The bills in my wallet all have to face the same direction and be in order from smallest to largest. When I play monopoly, I’m usually the first one out. Other people have their money jumbled up any which way, but my money is always neatly separated by denomination and neatly stacked. Right up until the time that I’m bankrupt and out of the game. And watching the moguls at work.
I'm not going to tag anyone. Because I'm a rebel. I'm more of a taggee-type than a tagger-type. But, hey, I'll read about the quirks of anyone who wants to play. :)
