I know that there are others on my flist who have been following the JKR/Lexicon suit with interest. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, there's now an LJ with a report of the proceedings of the first day of trial: jkrtrial (It's very much written from a JKR-fan perspective. But since I'm full support of JKR's position, I'm pretty much okay with that.)

Cool. Hadn't seen that one. Yes, the bias is showing, but it's an interesting "bystander" perspective of the trial, and how lawyers can blat a lot...and/or say little doing it.

I was a little amused the reporter they complained the defense attorney asked questions to Rowling that had already been brought up. The defense was doing a cross-examination. They're only allowed to ask questions on subjects that were already brought up.

*still snickering at the pie chart the plaintiff wants put in the trial*

ETA: Trial Recap by the Leaky Cauldron. From what I understand (and I swear, I didn't know much about HP fandom before reading about this case), this site used to have a business/fandom relationship with the Lexicon (sorta the defendant), but now have parted ways partly (wholly?) because of this case, so obviously they're not completely objective either. But this report is more of a layman's play by play of the testimony. Like a *really* detailed con report.

Yeah, prior to this my familiarity with the HP fandom was pretty much limited to having read the MsScribe saga. Since this surfaced on FW, I've followed the reporting some at Leaky and been pretty impressed with the way Melissa has presented the reports and summaries. I thought the announcement a week or two ago of the split with the Lexicon was telling and the point at which I felt the language got a lot more pointed. I'm guessing that there may be some feelings of betrayal surfacing.

I love the pie chart too.
