Well. On Sunday evening Tom discovered the ability to do something that I was afraid that he had the ability to do.

He's had a little fun over the past couple of days when he's feeling especially frisky doing a split second triple jump wherein he vaults from the coffee table (which he just touches fleetingly) to the sofa to the back of the sofa.

Just when I'm thinking that the above is going to be "fun" trait to discourage, he added a new skill last night. My dog, who at the shoulder comes to just below my knee, leaped onto the dining room table. He didn't even really take a run up. One minute he was on the floor next to where I was standing. The next second he landed with all four feet on the table. So I lifted him off, he, pleased with himself trotted across the room, flew onto the loveseat, then used the back to vault himself up and over.

This dog is definitely well-suited to agility. I think I'm going to have to invest the resources and time to doing that once he's at physical maturity. Provided he survives to maturity.

We have, at least, had some really excellent moments on our walks lately.

hee! FUN! :D. You'll ADORE agility.

(and repeat after me: "It's a good thing your cute" :)

When Indy was about 4 months old, a friend was visiting. We had been sitting on the patio having a glass of wine; Indy was with us (the patio is enclosed). Dad and a neighbor were having a drink with us, and Mom needed a hand with supper, so D and I asked Dad and J to watch Indy while we helped Mom. I came back out 5 mins later to find Dad and J (a man, natch ;) gone, and to find Indy standing in the middle of the patio table (dinner height) happily lapping up one of the wine glasses!!

She was very delicate, and the glass was fine. She DID need help getting down from the table though.... She was still little then, thankfully. It took a couple of more times of her getting stuck up there (one or two of which we just LEFT her for a bit ;), but she eventually learned that this was Not Acceptable.

She still would like wine with dinner regularly though. And it MUST be served in proper crystal ;).

This, I fear, would lead to the breaking of a hip (mine).

'course whether he'd run where I want him to is another question, but I'm sure he'd have lots and lots of fun! ;)

We had a dog, Zoey, who was an outside dog up until we got her at age 3. One of the first things she did when we brought her in to the house was jump up on the dining room table. As if it were perfectly normal.

Of course, Zoey was a borzoi and weighed nigh on to 80lbs.

We did do some agility training with her, but never any competition. We think she would have liked to do it, but she was not the fastest through the weaves. She was extremely long and so had to slow down to not pop out of the weaves.
