For those on my flist who are familiar with Stargate the movie. For purposes of background information regarding Sha're:
I think seen references that she learned to read in spite of that not being the norm for females. Is this correct? Are there other subtle or not-so-subtle examples of subversion or rebellion on her part that you can think of?

Date: 2008-12-15 04:10 am (UTC)She and a few others snuck into the caves anyway. She didn't want it known, but then cautiously revealed it to Daniel when she realized how frustrated he was, and that he wanted to write. She's the one who brought him to the caves.
She was the one who told Skaa'ra and the boys they must learn what Daniel taught her and set up the rebellion that rescued the survivors of the Earth expedition. Kasuf believes they should not have helped the strangers after Ra attacked Nagada, but she says: " Skaara, Nabeh, I want you to listen. We can't let this happen. I want you to know what Daniel told me about where our people came from, and why we can no longer live as slaves."
She also goes with the boys and Daniel and O'Neil when they assault the pyramid (she's crappy using a gun, but she is trying to fight alongside her husband).
Here's a transcript
