Finally after all the Stargate talk of the last few weeks I've caved and started watching. I think I'm hooked.

Like I really needed that.

But it is nice to have a new-to-me show.

And if I can focus on the shallow things, Richard Dean Anderson is aging quite well I think.

I am resisting, since I can't afford them right now. And our Blockbuster, thankfully, doesn't seem to carry them.

But if I get sucked into this show, I will blame y'all. [livejournal.com profile] suzannemarie and I will start a support group.

Yes, the challenge now will be to resist the siren call of dvds and stick to the SciFi channel's Monday night showings.

whee! one by one we will convert you all!

it's really a good show. Really.

Plus, RDA is better looking now that he's older, I think.

HAH! We don't have cable, so I cannot accidentally watch it. I am safe.

Sure you can. It airs in syndication on weekends. Our UPN channel shows it as well as an independant station. I bet one or more of your local channels shows it, too...!

I am not so sure....

hrmmm...

see, there is this strong Canadian component to Stargate's production. In fact, the guy who played Daniel in the early seasons (he died/resurrected or something, right?) -- Michael Shanks -- is from a town 2 hours from my hometown. And as a result of all the Canadian money in the show it is ALWAYS. on. the two local stations (which are all we get with our fancy rabbit ears). And while I liked it at first -- quite a lot, in fact -- it has gotten old very very quickly. *shrug*

hunh. according to friends of mine who live in Toronto, it's never on there. They've missed about four seasons and I'm sending them the current season as it airs. Perhaps it's got something to do with proximity to Vancouver?

We picked up the first season this weekend. There's a second-hand DVD/video game store a couple of miles away that frequently has items that people have bought, watched once or maybe twice, & then sold on in pretty much mint condition. We went looking for Deep Space Nine, but came out with SG-1.

On the other hand, they had the first 5 seasons there, so I think we did pretty well to come away with just one..

WOOO! Yay, it's not just me!

The show is addictive, I tell you. Too much purty. Plus cool evil aliens. And it is fun to get into a new thing. *g*

You know, I'm sure thanks to their relentless self-promotion, that Sci-Fi just launched a spin off, Atlantis, which is showing some promise. I'm happy because I'm in on this one from the beginning, so not playing catch up like I was with SG1.

And yeah, RDA without the mullet is a very good thing.

Yeah, I decided not to be left behind on the Atlantis thing. I'm think I'm going to like it too.

I will stand alone in my steadfast determination to. . .uh. . . stand fast.

I irrationally blame SG-1 for contributing to Farscape's demise, and I'm fine with that. Also, the few times I have watched, I've managed to catch what everyone tells me are "just the WORST episodes" to watch first.

Also, also, I never got Bab5, either, so I'm used to the fast-standing aloneness. :)

heh. I always attributed Farscape's demise to the stoopid Tremors. What a waste of airtime that show looked to be. I have to admit never watching it, strictly for the Farscape blame.

SG-1 is kewl.

I have never watched B5 either. It's on the list.

So is Farscape, except the insane way they released the show on DVD is kinda preventing me from being able to watch that one.

indeed. amen. etc. I have a large number of Farscape crazy friends, and the eps I have seen, I have liked. But I do not have endless pockets, and therefore cannot afford the DVDs.

And I have not the cable at home, so I can't even tape it in syndication on Canada's Space network, which airs it every weekday morning....

see above. with you on the not really into it anymore. And yes, Farscape (what I have seen of it, anyway) is MUCH. BETTER. Plus, Ben vs.RDA? Ben wins, hands down. though i must confess that RDA was my first TV crush, when I was like 12.... *embarrassed smiley*

Yes, joooiiinnnn the dark side, everyone! whee! I am hooked on SG and SG:A. I blame the demise of Farscape on stoopid Tremors not on SG. As RDA aging well, I think he is. The only thing is that TwoP posters mentioned how unnaturally long RDA's fingers are so I spent the last ep a wee bit (just a wee bit, mind you) distracted by his fingers. *g*

Hee! I happened to watch a little bit of MacGyver on TVLand this weekend, and was struck by the way RDA looked to be about 15. (I'm sure he must have been in his 30s by that time.) He was cute enough then. I agree with lawgeekgurl, he's better looking now.

I suppose one can't have too many little tv crushes.
