Why You Should Ignore the Gallup Poll

From the article:

Because the Gallup Poll, despite its reputation, assumes that this November 40% of those turning out to vote will be Republicans, and only 33% will be Democrat. You read that correctly.

Oh my god.

I don't even know what to say. That is just appalling.

The Gallup people. Are appalling. Not the part about Kerry possibly doing better than we thought. That's good.

Yup. That's why I told her that the polls will make you crazy and not to listen to them.

It's going to be fine. Damnit. So there.

From an article on Gallup results for the debate (linked in [livejournal.com profile] evilprettykitty’s most recent post)

Those interviewed after the debate were 36 percent Republican, 32 percent independent and 32 percent Democratic.

I am so glad you alerted me about this practice on the part of the Gallupers. Because otherwise I might have just blipped over that statistic.

Ugh.
