It looks like purchase of a townhouse is going to go through for me. I've had all the inspections and the only thing left is I need to get three responses from city approved contractors to take care of the repairs that the city inspector is requiring before they'll agree to release funds to help finance my purchase. I've given my 60 day notice at my apartment that I intend to break my lease. (After making sure that if the whole deal falls apart I can revoke my lease cancellation.) I have this worry that I'm jinxing things by giving notice before jumping this last hoop, but it needs to be done.
I had the mechanical inspection done on Saturday. He didn't find anything too serious and nothing that would be a deal breaker. My mom came to it too because she was interested in seeing the place. She seems to approve. That's a relief because she tends to notice things that I don't, and she didn't seem to be raising any red flags either. Townhouse owners are allowed to do gardening/landscaping around their own places. My mom and my agent seemed to bond over all sorts of ideas about things that I could put into the little flower gardens that the previous owners had put in.
I'm allowing myself to start getting excited. And I've started mentally arranging my furniture. And trying to think what color to paint the bathroom than the rather oppressive red that it is now....
